Singapura

by leonik - last update: Dec 10, 2005

Welcome to the meeting point of East and West

This country has gotten some bad rep due to misinformation so here are some clarifications:

1. Singapore is NOT a place in China.

2. You CAN chew gum, you just can't sell it or import it in large quantities. You can bring in a few packs for personal consumption. And nicotine and teeth-whitening gum are available in pharmacies if you really need a gum-fix.

Photo shows the symbol of Singapore, the Merlion - half-Lion-half-fish mythical creature.
3. Michael Fay got what he deserved. When you're Rome, do as the Romans do. In this case, observe the laws of the host country and your stay will be a problem-free, enjoyable one!

4. Singapore is not just a modern city-state-country. Its a melting pot of cultures and stay longer than just 2 nights and discover more than just her shopping malls!

5. Our draconian laws aren't everything!

Do interact with us locals and you'll find us extremely friendly, hospitable and most willing to extend a helping hand if you will just ask.
The Esplanade.

Concert Hall + Theater + Shopping Mall + Dining Establishments

Locals affectionately call it the "Durian" due to its resemblance to the King of Fruits.
