Comayagua is one of the oldes cities of Honduras, Founded on december 8Th 1537 with the name of Villa de Santa María de Concepción de Comayagua, renamed as Villa de Valladolid de Concepción de Comayagua, it is located at 92 Km. from the capital of Tegucigalpa, is a one hour trip by car trougth the mountains of beautifull landscape full of pine trees. It is a valley with a fast growing agricultural industry, the biggest airpot is located there though it is not for public use but a military airport.
Most people here are catholic, and we have fine examples of those days of the colony era in the architecture of the city. This first picture shows the Iglesia de la Merced, built just a few years later after the foundation of the small Villa.
