Gent trough the eyes of a Genteneir

St Michiels bridge
Ghent is one of the most beautiful cities in Belgium.
Ghent is a city of rebelions and people who like to enjoy life. Ghent is famous because Emperor Karel V was born here and trough the textile industry that florished due to Lieven Bauwens who stole the 'milling Jenny' (first textile producing machine) from the English.
The people of Ghent are called 'de Stropkes'(This is the round part of a rope through which a convict has to put his head before hanging).
We received this name because we refused to pay taxes to Emperor Karel V and as punishment we had to walk around town with a stropke around our neck.
If visiting Belgium Ghent is a must on your trip.

Well, well, hot air ballooning over your home. Beautiful buildings in Gent and the museums would take over 2 weeks to visit them all. Great looking city.
