Breath taking

Mount Shasta, a dorment volcano that makes up part of the Cascade mountains is located up in far Northern California. Being that only a few towns dot the area, a lower population density helps to preserve Shasta's beauty. Gone from here seem to be the banes of modern society: the traffic congestion, the smog, the noise, the crime, and all the other social ills.

Shasta people

For many, Shasta is said to be one of Earth's power centers. As a result, it acts as a jugernaut magnet for latent day hippies, new agers, spiritualists, Wicans, pro-karma enthusiasts, and just about anybody who's ever got a sign from God or Buddha. Within a number of those groups, there's a part of me, too. I can relate with many of them.

The locals are very friendly. One thing about the remoteness of Shasta (being originally from the San Francisco Bay Area) is it's not hard to figure out who the tourists are. Amongst the locals, everyone seems to know everyone. I also noticed that once you get out of the S.F. Bay Area people here seem to have more slightly accented English with a somewhat countryish sound to it.

If you get a day like this don't blow it.

It almost looks like a giant diamond.

The first day we got there, Shasta looked like this. The weather turned 'evil' overnight and we almost thought we weren't going to see Shasta again for the rest of our trip. But, as luck had it... things cleared up a few days later. Case in point, if you get good weather while you're there on any given day, use that day to make the best of your Shasta viewing opportunities because you just might lose your chance.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Beautiful & nature everywhere
  • Cons:The weather can change dramatically. So, don't waste a beautiful day if you get one.
  • In a nutshell:Definately for people that like nature & tranquility
