This has been really concerning.
I read about that but you may never believe it until you see it with your very eyes.
That one in the picture was not a side road leading to nothing, but almost all the roads in northern Scotland are like this one.
And that was NOT a one way road. There are a number of so called "passing places" along the road to let you make room for the car, coming the opposite way, to pass over you. Starting and stopping, restarting and stopping again, you will do nothing else while driving in Scotland.
Terrible for your nerves...
