Skyscrapers
From the Westin Bonaventure's restaurant, as I told you in my last tip, you may enjoy a lovely view of the town.
This hotel is known even because a famous movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger, "Total Recall", has been shot here.
The restaurant turns around in 360 degrees, so you may sit down, have a drink (eating is not necessary) and enjoy a view of the whole town. A 360 degrees turn is completed in about 45 minutes.
from above
May this tip go to the Accomodation category? Not for what I'm going to say.
This is definitely an "off the beaten path" tip because I brought the party here to show an aerial view of the town and the sunset.
Just come to the downtown and search for a strange building with many towers, and climb the "red" tower to reach the restaurant.
From there the view is absolutely breathtaking.
tall buildings at the Downtown Los Angeles
Possibly not everybody know this, but the well known american skyscrapers are not present all over the USA towns but only in central areas called the "downtowns".
Downtown Los Angeles is impressive. Tall buildings are here in larger number than in many other town I visited.
A walk here, or just a pass-by with your car.
Is recommendable in my opinion.
Take the neverending Wilshire boulevard and come to have a look.
Rodeo Drive
This place is not actually the hell I may have painted in my previous tips. Sorry for having given this idea.
Rodeo Drive is a pleasant place where to have a walk in peace, fearing nothing but spending a lot of money as soon as you enter a shop in there.
Good for us was that many of the shops were the same we find every day in Rome and so we were not so tempted to go in.
Rodeo Drive
This picture shows how Rodeo Drive actually is.
This street is actually a short, not so crowded, and absolutely "common" road.
A brilliant example on how media can influence your choices when deciding where to go or what to do visiting a place like this.
Los Angeles, not differently from many other places I'm talking about in my USA pages, occupies a relevant place in our TV-addicted-guys memories.
covered as I were at the North Pole
The main alley. And me with even a coat on!!!
Weather was quite hot, and I can't recall a decent reason for being so covered.
This kind of coats didn't make my Disneyland day pleasant, but it has been my fault for sure...
Rodeo Drive Walkway
An obliged destination for those who want to visit Los Angeles is the fabled Rodeo Drive.
Everybody come here secretly hoping to find some celebrities wandering along this road, everybody with "Pretty Woman" and Julia Roberts still in their eyes.
It is clear that you'll never find one here, unless you are very lucky (if luck is measured even in counting the stars you see).
Disneyland
The most famous Disneyland.
It stands in Los Angeles (well, "in" is improper because the L.A. metropolitan area is larger than 200km, and Disneland itself, that was INSIDE L.A., was more than 100 km away from my hotel...
I have never seen in my life a more perfect machine to make money.
Hundreds of people crowding everywhere not caring at all the absurd prices.
It is babies' paradise, definitely the best place where to spend a day with your children.
At the entrance there are a large number of ticket offices. After about 1 hour of waiting you'll get a fabulous "1 day passport" at the price of 42 USD.
Inside, all the attractions are free, but sometimes you'll have to stay in queue for more than one hour. This picture shows the bright colours of Disneyland, and the queues...
Address: Anaheim, Harbor & Katella Blvds.
