An obliged destination for those who want to visit Los Angeles is the fabled Rodeo Drive. Everybody come here secretly hoping to find some celebrities wandering along this road, everybody with "Pretty Woman" and Julia Roberts still in their eyes. It is clear that you'll never find one here, unless you are very lucky (if luck is measured even in counting the stars you see).

This place is not actually the hell I may have painted in my previous tips. Sorry for having given this idea. Rodeo Drive is a pleasant place where to have a walk in peace, fearing nothing but spending a lot of money as soon as you enter a shop in there. Good for us was that many of the shops were the same we find every day in Rome and so we were not so tempted to go in.

The most famous Disneyland. It stands in Los Angeles (well, "in" is improper because the L.A. metropolitan area is larger than 200km, and Disneland itself, that was INSIDE L.A., was more than 100 km away from my hotel... I have never seen in my life a more perfect machine to make money. Hundreds of people crowding everywhere not caring at all the absurd prices. It is babies' paradise, definitely the best place where to spend a day with your children. At the entrance there are a large number of ticket offices. After about 1 hour of waiting you'll get a fabulous "1 day passport" at the price of 42 USD. Inside, all the attractions are free, but sometimes you'll have to stay in queue for more than one hour. This picture shows the bright colours of Disneyland, and the queues...

Possibly not everybody know this, but the well known american skyscrapers are not present all over the USA towns but only in central areas called the "downtowns". Downtown Los Angeles is impressive. Tall buildings are here in larger number than in many other town I visited. A walk here, or just a pass-by with your car. Is recommendable in my opinion. Take the neverending Wilshire boulevard and come to have a look.

limsc79 Sat Jun 30, 2007 01:41 UTC How much are the drinks? Would the wait staff hassle you if you don't eat anything? | canaelly Sun May 6, 2007 22:08 UTC Hi: The restaurant is not revolving. There is a bar one level below which is revolving. The food in the restaurant was excellent! The Bonaventure hotel elevator was featured in the movie "True Lies" with Arnold Schwarzenegger. | traveldave Sun Jun 5, 2005 18:29 UTC I love LA; it's one of my favorite American cities. But you're right, it's huge and can seem confusing. I think the best way to see the city is to explore certains areas at a time, and eventually you'll have a better understanding of LA. | JetlagCity Thu Dec 23, 2004 00:14 UTC Ciao, Nicola, just want to wish you a very happy holiday! I lived in Los Angeles for 10 months and I must agree with you, it is soulless! |
