I've been to Malaysia for work (that's why I told "for free") in 1998.

My trip from Rome included a stop-over in Bangkok (see my VT page) and then 3-4 days in Kuala Lumpur for and Internet Conference called Inet 97.

We also had time for a journey to Melaka for sightseeing and relax.

Too bad I only have visited Melaka, only that region, not all Malaysia (even if I will probably visit Borneo sooner or later).

Note to all VTers, Malaysia itself may seem an "off the beaten path" destination, but it is definitely worth a trip for beauties I saw (only partially documented here), so I strongly suggest you to make a trip there.
Also keep in my that Singapore, that at least in Italy is more famous, is just 300 kms away from Kuala Lumpur.
