Cambria is known (or sold) as the "village of the artists". This is still fully to be demonstrated, because it appears me as not artistic at all. The point is actually, that I LIKED IT A LOT. Just outside the Highway 101, heading north and before getting the route towards the coast and the Pacific Coast Highway, there is a tiny (and THIS is a surprise) road that brings to this lovely, small, peaceful village. Not to sleep in, but deserving a visit. This is Cambria

Off The Beaten Path: CARMEL

We reached this destination late in the afternoon thanks to three main factors: 1) the Highway 1 is definitely TOO long, a place to visit not for travelling 2) there are NO SIGNS indicating ou have reached Carmel, follow the sign for OCEAN DRIVE. We almost reached Monterey and then we had to come back 3) the baggage of Tishomingoblues VT member, lost in time-space vacuum thanks to British Airways again, forced us to looooong calls trying to speak with someone able to undestand easy questions. The best thing we found is this lovely sunset at one of the most beautiful beaches ever seen in my life.

and this is my favourite place in San Diego. The Coronado Island. The endpoint of both my travels in these far-but-not-so-exotic lands. Reachable through a fantastic bridge, which toll is not to be paid anymore, you'll find with no problems this plaza from where a great view of the San Diego bay is enjoyable. It is a bit off-the-beaten-path, but not missable, no excuses.
