  • Favorite Thing: YOSEMITE PARK This beautiful fall is one of the greatest attractions of the park. There is a path leading directly at the bottom of the fall. Mind your camera! You'll become all wet in a moment!!

2004 ADDITION: After having known that the Death Valley was flooded (how ridiculous!) we finally arrived to Yosemite. The first thing we noticed is that the fall was dry!!! No water!!! What a wonderful surprise!
This year deserts are flooded and forest arid!

  • California SAN FRANCISCO
  • from the Twin Peaks

  • Favorite Thing: View of this wonderful town from the heights of the Twin Peaks.
Laura Palmer was not there, too bad.
A lot of wind, and chill, are perceptible, instead, a lot of them.
Mark Twain (thanks to member KEELO for remembering me the name), a famous writer, said that the coldest winter he ever experienced was a summer in San Francisco.
A bit exaggerated, in my opinion, but I've been there twice and it was veeery cold both the times.

SAN FRANCISCO: SAN FRANCISCO the father of all the gates

  • Favorite Thing: I tried to be original, please believe me, I tried.
Not putting a picture of the Golden Gate even in a San Francisco OVerview! How original.
    How stupid...
The best thing you may find in San Francisco is this mighty relic of the roaming thirties.
Enjoy it from the many vista points on the hill behind it, and don't forget your coat, delieve the famous writer's words if not mine. IT IS COLD UP THERE!!!!

SAN FRANCISCO: SAN FRANCISCO the Nakatomi Plaza

  • California SAN FRANCISCO
  • the Nakatomi Plaza

  • Favorite Thing: This is the magnificent Nakatomi Plaza, the most relevant landmark of the downtown San Francisco, not counting the Golden Gate and maybe Alcatraz.
I like that building for its particular shape and most of all for the action movie Die Hard, filmed there, with one of my favourite actors, Bruce Willis.
The Nakatomi Plaza is also tall enough to be visible from every corner of the town.

  • Favorite Thing: SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK.
This destination was almost doomed to miss my presence even this year.
My plans were bringing me somewhere else, but flood in the Death Valley rerouted us southwards towards Fresno, so we had the chance to visit this place. Not well connected to the rest of the California roads' web, it forced us to another long deviation, but what we found was worth the miles driven. This is the entrance

  • Favorite Thing: This is the reason for everybody come to this place, even if the rest of the park deserves a visit as well.
    This is the:
    - gigantic
    - majestic
    - unbelievable
    - embarassing
    General Sherman!
The sign said (too ignorant not to believe it) "the biggest living being on earth, 3200 years old, 90 meters tall" and God only knows how heavy is it.

Your pictures remind me of my trip on the coastal highway from San Diego to Eureka. Tioga pass! I had almost forgotten that place! You have superb pictures. That cannot be pure chance !

Beautiful photos of California! I had forgotten all about the Tioga Pass / Mono Lake area, for example. – Greetings from Frankfurt.
