Unlike in many other countries Germany's opening times are fixed by law.
Supermarkets:
Monday - Saturday 9.00 am - 8.00 pm
Sunday closed
Offices:
Monday - Friday 9.00 am - 6.00 pm
Saturday 9.00 am - 12.00 am
Sunday closed
Restaurants:
usually Monday - Sunday 9.00 am - 1.00 am
beergarden usually until 10.00 pm, in non-residential areas until 2.00 am
Since January 1, 2002 the Euro is the official currency of Germany (and 11 other European countries). 1 Euro (€) = 100 cents. 1 Euro equals 1.95583 Deutsch Marks. Euro is the only official currency. If you still have some Deutsch-Mark notes you can change them at Landesbanken.
Notes are in denominations of € 500, € 200, € 100, € 50, € 20, € 10 and € 5. Coins are in denominations of € 2, € 1 and 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 cents.
