    • Mannheim's water tower was built between 1886 and 1889 when the city decided to expand its municipal water supplies. It is 60 meters ( 200 feet ) high (from the bottom below the ground), and holds 2000 cubic meters.

    • The main station was erected between 1871 and 1876 to connect Mannheim with Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Because of the rising amount of passengers the station was enlarged in the 1920s. Air raids in the 1940s destroyed large parts of the station and the station was rebuilt in a more modern style. In 1985 it was enlarged again and today it is a hub for ICE and EC.

    • There's a beautiful park around the Water tower with water fountains, shady places for relaxing and green meadows for lying in the sun.

    • The huge Jesuit Church was completed in 1760. It is the most important Baroque church in south-west Germany. Once Mozart praised its atmosphere and outstanding acoustics. Heavily damaged in World War II, many valuable parts of the interior were completely destroyed.
