Mayen is located in the centre of the Vulcanic Eifel, not far away from Koblenz. The town is still partly surrounded by medieval walls (1600 meters long). It suffered a lot from bombings in during World War Two and not many buildings survived the attacts.

 In Mayen war ich sooo oft als Kind... kann mich aber kaum erinnern. Habe auch schon viel Positives über das Vulkanmuseum in Mendig gehört.

 Thanks for the Volcanology lesson....I had never known that! It's quite interesting to learn. Those caves sound huge!!!
