"Welcome to MAYEN" Mayen by Leipzig

Mayen Travel Guide: 19 reviews and 34 photos

Mayen is located in the centre of the Vulcanic Eifel, not far away from Koblenz. The town is still partly surrounded by medieval walls (1600 meters long). It suffered a lot from bombings in during World War Two and not many buildings survived the attacts.

Well, it's no Mt. Vesuvius, but it is a volcano! I had no idea . . .

In Mayen war ich sooo oft als Kind... kann mich aber kaum erinnern. Habe auch schon viel Positives über das Vulkanmuseum in Mendig gehört.

Another town with a clock I see - are there any officials checking out how many tourists come to see it - I know some people in Chester that might be able to help out... ;-)
