"Welcome to SZCZECIN (STETTIN)" Szczecin by Leipzig

Szczecin is located at the Odra River about 50km south of the Baltic Sea. The town has today about 400,000 inhabitants and can look back on a rich history. One evidence is the castle, former seat of Pomerania dukes. In the centre are numerous old churches and Baroque houses as well as several remainings of Prussian influence.
I was here for only two hours. Due to a traffic jam on the German autobahn we didn't have enough time to stay a longer time in Szczecin. I plan to revisit the city in one of the next years.

Beautiful picrures. Welcome back to VT, Christian :-)
Hi! Some important things are happening in Szczecin at the moment - the Castle is being renovated as well as the Cathedral (its spire and organs will be rebuilt by the end of 2007)
What you present at this picture and write about is The Port Gate. Kings Gate is another one built in 1725-27 in other part of the city.
The climate is very mild ...
Have passed through a couple of times en route to Gdansk -- thought I might stay next time and have a look around -- shame you didn't have longer there -- nice photos -- thanks.
Looks like a beautiful place!
Sounds like you need to get 1) a better radio to warn you of staus or 2) a better navigator who can read the maps quicker in order to find those little rural roads to get around those efficent Deutshcen Autobahns. Wenn wir fahren auf den Autobahn;-]
