The city of Rostock was founded in 1218 and has today a population of 220,000 and is the largest city in the federal German state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern. In the Middle Ages, Rostock was a member of the Hanse League for centuries and one of the most important handling junctions for trade with the whole of Europe, particularly Scandinavia. With the foundation of the university in 1419, the city became the intellectual centre. In 1850 Rostock had the third largest sailing ship fleet in Germany. The well-known shipyard "Neptunwerft", founded in 1890, has been the biggest company in Mecklenburg.

Sieht ja viel besser als zu Ost-Zeiten aus. Die Jugi auf dem Schiff ist ja wirklich eine einzigartige Idee! Und das Foto vom Sonnenuntergang wieder ... Wow!
