The city of Augsburg was founded by the Romans in 15 before Christi. It recieved its name from the Roman Emperor Augustus.
The city had its Golden Age in the 15th and 16th century as international trading centre, forced by the Fugger and Welser merchants families.
In the centre you can see a lot of beautiful Renaissance buildings that give the city its unique character.
