Pegelturm

During the 1950s and 1960s huge open lignite mining took place in this region. After reunification the holes were filled with water. Today these regions are popular resorts. At the "Goitzsche Park " you can find the landmark of Bitterfeld, the Pegelturm (water level tower). When I was here the park was still under construction but meanwhile it is a popular recreation resort and a place where live events, like concerts, take place.
