Bitterfeld was first mentioned on May 28, 1224. In 1637 the city was conquered and despoiled by the Swedes. 13 years later the Swedes burnt down and left the city. In 1815 Saxony lost Bitterfeld in the Battle of the Nations to Prussia. Bitterfeld has become an industrial centre due to open lignite mining.
It is no typical tourist spot. The few attractions in the centre are usually not open to public. But the vicinity offers some great hiking and cycling tracks.
- Pros:great recreation areas around the town
- Cons:there's not much to do in town

I think you did everything what is to do (and see) there. Well done! Nice photos. I spent a short time there during my army service. Brings back BAD memories!!
Nice job, my friend. I'll have to take you to the old (1792) apothecary in Alexandria, VA.
