The town of Delitzsch is situated on doorstep of Leipzig. It name derives from the Sorb word "Delc" and means "Hill". On this hill the first settlement was founded by the Sorbs in 8th century. The town was fortified in 14th century. Today Delitzsch is seat of the regional administration of the identically named district.
