I spent a few days in Yorkshire visiting family on my first trip to England. Everything was just so... rustic. Wow. No strip malls, none of the familiar fast food signs. Just lots of scenic countryside and beautiful old architecture. How refreshing!I spent one day in York itself. York is presumably New York's namesake but it bears little to no resemblance. It's a beautiful city -- the kind of place that looks like a movie set but it's in real life. Again, those inadequate words -- beautiful, quaint, historic, rustic -- come to mind. We also visited the smaller but no less lovely towns of Knaresborough and Harrogate. |
