<h4>We only saw the airport and rental car place in Canberra before heading out towards Kosciuszko National Park. We climbed Mt. Kosciuszko, Australia's tallest peak which is a modest 2,228 meters. The hike itself is about as easy as one can get on a mountain of that size; the incline is usually not steep and one is often walking on a mesh boardwalk put there to protect the fragile alpine tundra. Below the tree line there were snow gums and other unfamiliar foliage making me feel like I had gone back in time into the middle of some long ago epoch.
The picture here depicts an alpine stream somewhere along our hike on the mountain, its snow fields in the background.</h4>
