What else I knew about Leipzig, besides this? Before my trip, I mean. Well, not much, as I am ashamed to admit. I knew it was one of the most important cities of Saxony, transport hub, etc. And that one of the world’s most famous composers - Johann Sebastian Bach - worked there for more than 25 years – evidently, 7 years spent in a music school where not completely wasted in my case. Also I knew that there was ‘The Battle of the Nations’ close to Leipzig during the Napoleonic wars in Europe.
