I was most pleasantly surprised to find in the improved database of VirtualTourist my actual home town. Before that, I was actually forced to write that my home was Moscow. But it's Dubna.
I know instances of bias can easily be found here, on this page. So beware:))
What DUBNA ACTUALLY IS, BESIDES BEING MY HOME TOWN
Dubna is a town in Moskovskaja oblastý, being, as an important science centre, administratively linked to no other town in the Moskovskaja oblastý, but directly to Moscow. Founded 47 years ago, Dubna even earned itself a place in the Britannica Encyclopedia. Hereýs what I read up:
ýDubna - city, Moscow oblast (province), western Russia. The city lies along the Volga River where it is joined by the Moscow Canal (completed 1937). Dubna is a new city, incorporated in 1956; in 1960 it absorbed the town of Ivankovo on the opposite bank. It is one of several planned ýscience cities,ý its existence depending on the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, which employs scientists from many countries. Dubna University opened in 1994. The city includes much open green area. Pop. (1995 est.) 67,500.ý ý Britannica Encyclopedia, 2003 |

zoedavis Tue Nov 18, 2008 23:31 UTC Is it easy to get around at the beginning of your winter? Zoe | fidokutya13 Mon Sep 22, 2008 17:33 UTC Congratulations!!I was happy to read sg about Dubna. Long time ago my dad was working there. I couldn,t speak not a word in Russian and I had to go to school at the age of 12.... In spite of all difficulties I loved Dubna and Russians very much. | Nemorino Mon Mar 3, 2008 13:41 UTC I was curious about Dubna because it is one of only six cities in the world that have elements named after them -- I've listed them on my homepage. Sounds like a fine place to grow up and go to music school, especially since your parents work at JINR. | Propermark Tue Nov 29, 2005 19:18 UTC Now I understand! So you are russian! That's why you can speak russian fluently... I wish I could do it too! And it's amazing you also speak Italian fluently!!! Greetz from Palermo. Do svidania. Paka Marco. |
