Victor Hugo, who wrote Les Miserables (sorry for the spelling but my French is below zero...), has lived at Place de Vosges.
It has later become a museum dedicated to the author's life and works.
Personally speaking, Place de la Concorde is one of my favourite locations in Paris. And the ancient Eqyptian obelisc really fits amazingly well with a modern city.

One of the city's most famous bridges, named so in honour of a Russian Emperor.

Place d'Etoile postcard
The feature of this square (which is, of course, round!) are straight avenues culminating in the square and, of course, the Arc de Triomphe.

I only went there on my second trip, but absolutely loved this part of the city!

I will add the Cathedral's history as soon as possible!
In the meantime, enjoy the pic!

Champs-Elysees sign
One of the best known streets in the world, it is a world of shops, restaurants and entertainment.
I wanted to go in for some French food in a charming restaurant on the Champs-Elysees, but when my father suggested frogs I did not quite liked the suggestion... I settled for more known things...
And I actually attended the finish of the famous Tour de France cycling race!
Later, when I went there all by myself, I really had a merry time in the Chams-Elysees. Shopping, dining and (once!) visiting Lido.
Pirates' Ship in Disneyland
...No matter whether you are an adult or a kid, with children or without. In fact, I enjoyed it to an exceptional degree, and I am an adult with no kids!
For some more pictures, feel free to check out my 'Disneyland Paris' travelogue. I hope to put there some more write-up soon as well!
Now… Raherka and Merseankh… Another masterpiece I knew well even before my visit… Did not know it was in the Louvre museum, however. This sculpture group (I call it so only because there’re two statues in it) of husband and wife (as I remember from my history of the arts classes) comes to us from the time of the 5th dynasty, and its not in a bad state of preservation if you consider its more than 4500 years old. Made of limestone – if you stroll around the Egyptian Antiquities department in the Louvre you’ll quickly jump to the idea it was the prime sculpture material in those days. I certainly did!
Some of the other highlights:
- Painting from the Akhetetep (what a name, by the way!!) Mastaba, showing the scribes that are recording the reopening of the farms, and a hunting scene. Not so many gods, as I noticed, but mostly scenes from everyday life.
- Couple, a statue made of the acacia wood. Not really in excellent state of preservation, but who’d expect wood to be in a perfect state after 4500 years??
- Large Sphinx – I really love sphinxes! This one’s really large – close to 5 meters!
- Lintel of Sesostris III: King Making an Offering to the God Montou – this one was taken from Medamoud temple, and belongs to the 12th dynasty
- King Sesostris III, a diorite statue of the pharaoh of the 12th century, taken from Medamoud
