My Home - MALTA

by Zlur - last update: Feb 4, 2005

So here's a little introduction about the country I live in - Malta! I'm very patriotic about my country, I love everything about it - the rich history, the friendliness of the Maltese people, our numerous beaches, brilliant sunshine, our wonderful culture, laidback lifestyle, great nightlife and the list goes on!... so please feel free to ask me anything and I will do my very best to provide you with as much information as possible!
Malta is an island in the Meditteranean sea, south of Italy. To give you an idea of the size of our island it's slightly less than twice the size of Washington, DC! Our capital city is called Valletta.
We obviously have a Meditteranean climate, with mild, rainy winters and hot dry summers. Snow and fog are unknown on our island.
The country comprises an archipelago, consisting of 3 islands being inhabited; Malta, Gozo and Comino. Malta's population is approx. 391,670. Our nationality is Maltese, we speak Maltese, English and most people understand and speak Italian. 91% of the population are Roman Catholics.
For more information/photos and History of Malta, please take a look at my Travelogue. Some information used on my Malta page was provided by the excellent website Visit Malta should you require further reading.

In A Nutshell:"Such a tiny meditteranean island with so much to offer and lots to be discovered!"

Happy Birthday Roberta! - yes I agree with you that Malta is a great island and so is Gozo! I had a fantastic week there with a Danish group in 2006.
