Belem 6 june 2009

by dila - last update: Jun 21, 2009

from Cascais to Belem

On 6th june 2009 i went to Belem.
I walked from the trainstation towards the horseparade i saw from the train. They run a sqaure at the front of the president palace.
I think it had something to do with the elections.
From the palace i walked to Jeronimos Monastery.
All the horses standed in line at the front of the monastery. A car stopped and i guess some important people came out and made a bow or so towards the militairy on the horses and then got back into the car.
I went to the church first then looked at the horses again and then went to the cloisters. The cloisters were a bit dispointing because the broadcast for the elections were there on sunday so they were busy to put equipment there. cables boxes and more ...
Opposite of the church is a national argelogical museum nice but not aloud to make pictures.
I went to the kiosk across the monastery for some info. I was affraid that i had not enough space on my memorystick so i went to a photshop aside of the cultural centre.
I walked back towards the monastery there is a park at front with a fountain. Then i walked to pastries de Belem. Hmmm they were still warm.
From here i walked to the coaches museum after this msueum i took a bus around the corner to palacio de Ajuda (not aloud to take pictures in side)
Took the bus back to Belem and visite the Torre Belem. Some girls tried to pickpocket me when i crossed the bridge over the highway to Torre Belem.
When i walked from Torre Belem to the discovery monument the navy ship was on his way. I took tram 15 to Carris tram museum but was to late it was closed. so i took the 15 again to Cais de Sodre to take bus 28 and had a nice chat with a woman called Maria Louise (Nini) we found out that the oceanarium would be closed so she invited me to her home ( lost the adress wanted to send here a card) After this i went to marchas populares at 21.oo it started at 22.00 so i had to leave early to go back to Cascais.
