"Montréal, ma ville!" Montreal by meetings

Friday, October 24, 2003: VTers met in Montréal to welcome ronaldpk to our city. ronald is a world traveller who has just moved to Montréal from New York City. He already speaks French and I think he'll find himself quite at home here.

So, we met at the restaurant La Raclette, where they specialise in Swiss cheese specialties. We all had raclette and it was good (even if the cheese is brought already melted in a plate with all the garnishings that come with raclette: gherkins, viandes des Grisons, small potatoes, the works.

The restaurant follows a Québec tradition of letting customers bring their own wine so we never ran out and found reasons to cheer everything under the sun. This practice keeps the bill low and especially means we can have great wine NOT at restaurant prices. :-)))

The organiser of our evening (shashasharon) was hijacked by her boss who paid an unexpected visit to town that night. But she paid us a visit late in the evening and took this pic. All our eyes are closed, except for one! That's because all our mouths were going!

We ended up at the Gogo something on St-Laurent, where we couldn't move an inch but could sing along with the old-fashioned music. Thank you Reverend for making sure the hostel opened its doors to let me in at 5 am, before going to your own place!
