Savannah is really a wonderful city. During the civil war it was not destroyed by Sherman, but presented as a "gift" to Lincoln. So all of it's old world beauty is still intact.
Actually, there is the historical district and the new part of town. The new part of town looks like anywhere else in America: strip malls, chain restaurants, and prefabricated housing communities, so I will not bother speaking of that.
The historical district is the largest historical district in any city in the US. It is filled with beautifully constructed houses amongst parks and squares.
Down next to the river, the aply named River Street is filled with bars, restaurants, and shops. |
