Edinburgh Castle and the Palace at Holyrood are the two must sees. Edinburgh Castle is the most famous of all Scotland?s castles. It has been the center of many sieges and battles. The Palace at Holyrood is the official residence of the Queen when she comes to Scotland.
Princes Street is the main street of modern stores, while the Royal Mile has shoppes for all things Scottish. Tartan clothing, kilts, swords, dirks, bagpipes, and of course, Scotch whisky are the mainstays of distinctive Scottish culture. Scottish troops still wore kilts into battle up until 1940. |

Very nice page! We loved it when we were there in 9/2002. We're going back again to ring a concert in St. Giles' in the spring of 2004! Scotland is a lovely country. Thanks for sharing it with the world. |
