Left Vernal, UT early Friday morning and headed towards Pinedale. Took my time, as I was tired out from visiting two National Parks (Mesa Verde & Arches) the day before...did a lot of hiking in hot weather....so...decided just to take things slow & easy on Day 3 of vacation.

Fell in love with the Wind River mountains near Pinedale. They are absolutely breathtaking! Was tempted to pick up and move here! PInedale is a very nice small community of about 1,400 people. Very friendly & laid back.

I checked into Pole Creek Ranch B&B for the weekend, then headed over to the Mountain Man Museum, to attend a seminar being held by Michael "Bad Hand" Terry, Seminole Indian who is an expert historian on the Plains Indians way of life. Enjoyed the seminar very much. Michael Terry was informative, funny...and totally blew away all previous ideas that I, as well as others at the seminar, had regarding the Plains Indians. Hollywood is responsible for alot of misconceptions on the Plains Indians' way of life!

After the seminar, attended a Buffalo Feast...my first taste of buffalo meat, which was btw very delicious! The menu was buffalo (cooked so tender it melted in your mouth), fresh corn on the cob, coleslaw, ranch baked beans, fried rolls (very different but delicious), watermelon. There was live music...sounded like bluegrass to me! LOL Met a couple from California, and struck up a nice long conversation. Everyone was extremely friendly. After dinner I browsed around the museum, then headed to the rodeo.

On Saturday, attended the Pinedale Rendezvous Parade, did some shopping and browsing of the vendors set up all over town, then attended the Rendezvous Pageant....a Mountain Man & Plains Indians re-enactment of how the area was first settled, etc. Was very interesting!

After the Pageant was over with, decided to head to Ft. Washakie, on the Wind River Reservation, a 2 hour drive, and visit the Sacajawea Grave site. Was a little disappointed to find out that she wasn't actually buried here...that several states claim she's buried in their state. Oh well...at least I saw the grave site of one of her sons, as well as a grandchild.

Got back into Pinedale late afternoon, and had dinner on the porch out at the ranch; enjoying the view of the mountains. Could easily get used to this!

Got up early Sunday morning & headed to Green River, WY, where I attended Sunday morning church, before heading down through the Colorado Rockies.

Be sure to see the Traveloges below for photos from the Rendezvous & Pinedale.
