Trg Ante Starcevica
Trg is Croatian for square and there are many of them in the city. Though not always made up of four sides of equal length, these are almost always home to famous landmarks or sculptures.
Trg Ante Starcevica (Croatian politician from the first half of 20th century) is home of Regent-Esplanade, the most beautiful hotel in Zagreb and fine neo-classical buildings, which gives you Vienna impression.

Trg kralja Tomislava
This is the first picture of Zagreb you'll see if arriving by the train. In fact, the Main Railway Station of Zagreb stands on the southern side of the spacious King Tomislav Square, and was built at the end of the 19th century.
Opposite the Railway Station stands a statue of King Tomislav, the first king of the medieval state of Croatia, after whom the square is named. King Tomislav Square is a large park with a fountain in the middle, and bordered in the notrh by the Art Pavillion.

Uspinjaca
At the foot of Lotrscak Tower, there is a funicular railway, built in 1891, which connects the Upper Town with the middle of Ilica street, the main street of Zagreb. The funicular is connected to Ilica Street by the short J.E.Tomic Street, which can also be reached by taking the steps beside the funicular.
The funicular railway is coloquially called "Uspinjaca".

Crkva sv. Katarine
Katarinin trg (Catherine's Square) closes with the Jesuit church of St. Catherine, which was built between 1620 and 1632 on the model of the Roman II Gesu Church. The church is famous for its wall paintings and sculptures, and is thought to be one of the most beautiful and most fully preserved Baroque monuments.
The square is named after Katarina Zrinska, a poetess, the wife of the Croatian viceroy Petar Zrinski and the sister of Fran Krsto Frankopan. Zrinski and Frankopan were two great Croatian lords, who, in 1671, were fraudulently made to go to Wiener Neustadt, where they were executed for plotting against the Habsburg Monarchy.

Kamenita vrata
The present Kamenita vrata (Stone Gate) is much newer than the previous gates mentioned in the Middle Ages, however, there is no record of what those gates looked like. The year 1760 engraved above the northern entrance documents the last reconstruction of the Gate.
According to legend, a great fire consumed all the wooden elements of the gate in 1731, except for the painting of the Blessed Virgin and Child, which was found in the ashes, miraculously undamaged......

Kula Lotrscak
Kula Lotrscak (Lotrscak Tower) was built in the 13th century with the purpose of protecting the city's gates. The tower's name comes from "campana latruncolorum", what means "the bell of the robber". The bell chimed from the tower every evening before the city gates were closed.
Every day for over a hundred years, a cannon has been fired from the top of the tower exactly at noon, giving the people of Zagreb the chance to check their watches.
The tower is situated in the short passage called Dverce, where the southern gate to Gradec used to be.

St. Mark's Church stands in the middle of St. Mark's Square. It dates back to to the 13th century and used to be the parish church of Gradec.
The multicoloured tiles on the left side of the roof represent the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia, while those on right side represent the coat of arms of the city of Zagreb. The earliest known Zagreb coat of arms is the one walled in on the exterior north-western wall of the church in 1499.

Katedrala
Kaptol is dominated by the Cathedral of the Assumption of Virgin Mary and St. Stephen.
After a series of additions and renovations over the centuries, at the beginning of the 20th century two slim Neo-Gothic bell-towers were erected, which today are a prominent part of the city's visual identity. The left bell-tower is 104 meters high, while the right one is 105.

Park Zrinjevac
The park on N.Š. Zrinski Square is the oldest park in the Lower Town, and the part of the magnificent string of eight parks which make up "Lenuzzi's green horseshoe". It is probably the most beautiful spot in Zagreb and the favorite city promenade.
The park, laid out in the style of English landscaping, is surrounded by excellent Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Romanesque and Neo-classical buildings. In the middle is the Music Pavillion, built in 1891. In 1893 this beautiful fountain designed by the architect Herman Bolle was built in the park.
