The city where I was born... | Bassano del Grappa, Alpines Bridge, February 2004 |
Bassano del Grappa is a beautiful town in Veneto, far about 70km from Venice to the north. It's here that I was born 27 years ago... And it is here that I grew up with my family, but 5 years ago I moved to Venice to study and work... |

| | Why the Alpines? The most famous monument of Bassano del Grappa is the Alpines wooden bridge on the River Brenta. There are lot of places where you can see a beautiful panorama of Bassano del Grappa near it :)
This monument is dedicated to the Alpines, a military corp very important for this city, expecially during the I World War. In the mountains near here there were lot of battles (expecially on the Monte Grappa) and also during the II W.W. lot of alpines were sent to Russia and many of them lost their life there... so in this place you often breathe the Alpine's air, specially in the Nardinis' inns (one is near the wooden bridge, the other in Viale delle Fosse)... Alpines here in Italy are famous also for their love for the wine, beer and - obviously - the Grappa! :)))) |
...the medieval city... The town of Bassano is, imho, very pretty... lot of medieval buildings here, you can breath a soft area in all the town.
I've choosed to put my internal pics in "sepia" mode, as usually for my "medieval places" photos :) | | | Bassano del Grappa, February 2004 |

I hope you're fine. Ciao! | painterdave Fri Apr 13, 2007 21:30 UTC Thanks for putting up the photos of Bassano. You did a very nice job of your home town, they should be proud of you for such a nice presentation. | italianfan Mon Jun 5, 2006 22:24 UTC What a lovely town this is. Was lucky enough to visit in 2004, got some good pics of the alpines bridge. Didn't really have long enough there to explore all of the town. Will get back there again some time |
