The Netherlands have a special place in my heart for various reasons, none of them particulary relivant right now. Get yourself over as soon as possible to sample the many varied pleasures for yourself.
Take time looking around other cities, life does exist outside Amsterdam. Get on a train, they're very reliable and head out on your own adventure of discovery.
Rotterdam is an excellent city with loads going on. The buildings are a bit mad but what the hell! A visit to the Euromast is a must, experiance the disco lights in the lift and the realistic "take off". Superb!
