"LUEBBEN / SPREEWALD" Lübben by Mandy23

Lübben Travel Guide: 6 reviews and 5 photos

Luebben is a town in the Spreewald forrest and has approx. 15.000 inhabitants. Its twin cities are Neunkirchen/Germany and Wolsztyn/Poland.
Luebben was first mentioned in written form in 1150, at this time as "urbs lubin" (Fort/Castle Luebben). The walls of the tower of the castle are ca. 2,5m thick which is an indication of its original use. The tower should offer "protection" in case of an attack.
During WW2 ca. 80% of the town were destroyed and although one or another free place might still be a reminder of this time, Luebben has changed very positively during the past years and became a health/holiday resort.

Please be patient with me and my photo resizing skills. Some look squeezed, but I'm working on it. If for nothing else, you can have a laugh at our short & squeezed bodies lol
Or let's say until I figured out the best way to resize, I'll let the pictures in their original size and to view them in better quality, just click on them in the tips, okay? :P
