Favorite Thing: This time Madrid behaved too officially indeed and decided to make the first introduction on Plaza Mayor, however I didn't expect it to be that formal. But then, when it saw me in the middle of the square totally lost, deafened by the crowd of other guests, surprised and bewildered at the same time... it colored the facedes in pink with the help of the settling sun, switched on chansons played on accordion by some French looking Spaniard, turned on the lanterns in the open air restaurant and set my eyes on a fragile angel standing still on a box with her hands put together in a pray.... and I suddenly relaxed, calmed down and smiled to Madrid. All in all I liked the introduction...

Favorite Thing: And then Madrid took me to another place, more comfortable and friendly, the place where it could tell me about its life a bit... so I could see some of its buddies and listen to the music it likes to listen, smell the soon to be ready dinner and secretly giggle at a stupid comment of one of its guests... Hey, Madrid, it seems I've started to like you!

Favorite Thing: After delicious and hefty dinner Madrid was eager to show me around a bit more, maybe it was influenced by the fact that I once revealed that I like cities at night, who knows... We walked along Gran Via watching the brightly lighted windows and blinking neon signes, groups of youngsters laughing and chatting loudly rushed back and froth in search of friends and entertainment.... Madrid wispered into my ear - hey, watch it, the night has just began, you'll see the city that never sleeps...

Favorite Thing: We came to Cibeles Square, it was late, a few tourists and Madridians randomly stralling around.... I was really fascinated by the sight of lighted square and fountain, a combination of monumentalism and lightness, blowing wind was splashing water sheets into little sparkling diamonds.... Late at night we returned back to my hotel, Cruz district.... I dreamt about calm night in vain, the night pulse of the city was right at the hotel door.... oh, well, Madrid, you never sleep indeed!

Favorite Thing: And the next morning Madrid proposed me a ride, it said that it won't be long and boring and that I would be able to see what it is famous for.... Oh, well, I couldn't resist... So we met on Puerta del Sol. It said - this is the place all people come to and go from, this is the hub of all my ways and directions, so let us start here and this will be the place we return to...

Favorite Thing: Madrid showed me the Arc. I said, hey it looks like the one I have back home, only this one is bigger, more monumental, I do remember it from the old Spanish guide book, which my parents brought from the trip about 3 decades ago. I remember that pic very clearly, 30 years passed but nothing has changed...

Favorite Thing: Have you heard the story about a Spanish guy who discovered a new continent? - wispered Madrid into my ear and winked at me. - Here is the monument in his honour.... actually two of them... the old one looking like a colomn and the new one slightly behind copying Picassos cubic period.... Well, I haven't told Madrid at that time, but I liked the old monument better, more elegant and nice, I don't fancy these modern cubic stuff...

Favorite Thing: And then I saw the Cibeles Sq. at day time... oh my! Madrid, I envy your squares!...the elegance and openness, that is what strikes at first sight.... I don't know when I like it more - so whitely bright during the day, or misterious with game of colors and shadows at night...

Favorite Thing: Madrid, I liked your Calle Mayor, it's one of the most elegant and gorgeus streets which I managed to see.... beautiful palaces, trendy shops and restaurants... it's like a bridge connecting two poles - hustling and bustling Puerto del Sol and majestic Royal Palace.
