I would have never forgiven myself if we had missed Toledo on our way back from Madrid.
The old Iberian capital, full of history and fame, is seen from the far aproaches, Cathedrals tower piers the sky from the middle of the town as a birthday candle, cobble stone streets are polished by million feet of people coming and going....
Toledo stands on Tajo river, which gently embraces the city in curvy hug. The city has an immence historical legacy not only being an ex capital but serving as a cradle for many branches of Spanish art, not to forget that it was a birthplace of famous El Greco.
Toledo – every corner has a tale to be told, a witness of a brilliant period in Spanish history when the cultures of east and west flourished and fused: one a constantly aware of this imprint of Christian, Jewish and Moorish cultures which productively co-existed in Middle ages. |
