Just a decade ago it was a small town, lost somewhere in the middle of vast stepps. Now it's one of the fastest growing cities in Asia, it's new Dubai which is being build on oil.

Interesting page on Astana! Never heard of this city but today on the newspaper where they compared Astana to Dubai (in less pharaonic though)...
