This hotel is pretty conveniently located in central Stockholm, near the subway Hotorget (which really is in the center of Stockholm) and near to subway Ostermalmstorg. On a great street, too---Birger Jarlsgatan--a street I liked very much! Built in 1895, the hotel has character. 111 rooms.

This hotel is has a grea location--take the train or bus from the airport and walk across the street to your hotel! It's situated in the center of the city. Clean and comfortable. Views not spectacular, but the location is great.

Though I did not stay here, this hotel certainly aught my eye because of its excellent location. It is situatd right in old town very close to the Storkyrkan and the Royal Palace. From old town the rest of Stockholm (central city, odermalm, city hall, Kungsholmen) is all very accessible. If I go back to Stockholm I would definitely consider staying here.
Supposedly the building dates to the 15th century (though rooms have been updated!), and the hotel has alot of character!
I hear the rooms are tiny but that the breakfast is great and there is a great sauna for 10 people in the basement. There are alot of good reviews about the hotel.

Sheraton Stockholm
This hotel is very, very convenintly located--it is close to Gamla Stan, the Central Station, Drottninggatan, the metro...really great location.
Only thing is that it is a bit expensive!!! From the outside it does not look so special, but it has rooms with great views! Ask for a room facing ol town...

Grand Hotel
I actually did not stay here, but it has to be mentioned because it's probably the most famous hotel in Stockholm. Even if you don't stay here, you should go inside and have a look--it's beautiful! The only thing is that you probably should not walk in wearing some old torn jeans and a old tshirt!
The hotel is incredible and the Nobel prize winners sleep here after the big banquet. One room is situated in a tower with a 360 degree view. Many of the rooms have an incredible view over the Royal Palace.
Address: S Blasieholmshammen 8, , Stockholm, Stockholms Län
Comparison: most expensive
Directions: Metro Kungstradgarden--very conveniently located close to the Royal Garden, Wasa Museum, Nordiska Museum, Skansen open air museum, boat cruise, old town, and central Stockholm...

Lobby (with no one in it!)
This is actually not a hotel recommendation. This is where I stayed because it was part of the inexpensive deal I got through last minute travel in Germany (L'tur). The hotel itself was ok--it was modern, clean, I had a big room with a nice view over the water and the ferries coming back and forth between Finland and Estonia and Latvia. However, the hotel had a strange feel to it--most of the time it seemed deserted and I sometimes felt like I was staying in an unoccupied office building. In fact, friends who tried to call me could not get through because half of the time no one answered the phone! I ate once in the restaurant, and it was then that I decided I would not do it again. The restaurant had a conference room feel to it.
To get to town, you had to walk through a long office building, through a long "skyway", over a bridge, through a park, down the street, and then up the hill...and that was just to get to the subway!!!! I got to know the subway well and luckily the subway was only three stops from central Stockholm...but if I had it to do over agan, I think I would pay the extra money to stay closer to the center...or closer to anything that is!
PS It IS convenient of you will take an early morning ferry to Finland...hehe
