Tallinn is a delightful city. Easy to get to from Helsinki by ferry, the city center is small and easily covered on foot. You could, technically, walk the entire old town in a day without difficulty, but if you have a couple of days, you can get a much better feel for the place than if you just whizzzz through in a day. The old center is surrounded by its old medieval city wall, so it is hard to get lost.

The old town is divided into two parts--upper and lower. The upper town sits on top of a hill called Toompea, and is peaceful and quiet. Upper town is where the parliament buildings are located and from here there are fabulous views of the area. lower town s where you will find mst of the shops and restaurants, and the small, picturesque streets are buzzing with activity.
