A couple of years ago, I asked in the forum whether I should visit Malta or Cyprus, and the overwhelming majority advised me to go to Malta, so I did. Now I have been also to Cyprus, and after having been to both countries, I can say that I am glad that I have seen both!

Malta and Cyprus are completely different. Cyprus seems to be much more full of tourists on package holidays simply looking to hang out at the beach in the day and go clubbing at night. If you like this, then you will like Cyprus. However, there is much more to Cyprus than just beaches and nightclubs--there is a wealth of history, great mountain scenery, beautiful landscapes, excellent food, and warm people.

I hope someday you will also visit Cyprus. It is a land of diversity, and of turmoil. Nicosia is the last divided city in the world, with Turks to the North and Greeks to the South. It is still a very difficult situation which seeks a solution, but don't let this stop you from coming.

You are right about the Cypriot interior. Too many people completely miss it and have no idea of the real Cyprus.
