though I look at this time now from a distance of more than 2 years, the images are still fresh; I am sure that's very common with people who have been in this wonderful country. With its picturesque islands, its great beaches, its ancient ruins Greece has a lot to offer to all kinds of travellers. This country has been the scenery for Homer's great epic tales, here the sophisticated culture of the world's first democracy has flourished for some hundred years, here has been the birthplace of western philosophy ... yes Greece has a great history and the more you will be surprised to find very few people there who are interested in their distant "glorious" past. it seems those people are much more concerned with the needs of the moment than are people in other countries; on the other hand they know how to take it easy, if something can be done tomorrow, why shouldn't we do it tomorrow and have a great time today? if you hear a decisive "avriou" that means that work is finished for today ... the Greek may not have an economy as highly developed as other countries in Western Europe but when you live among them for some time you will find that they have something that is far more important: time. You can talk to them for hours, you can spend whole afternoons at a meal, you will never find them watching their watches ...
