Bangkok is a study in contrasts. My tour guide took me to see two wonderful temples during the day. You could feel the deep spirituality of the Thais by the amount of effort they have put into those temples - and there are a LOT of temples in Thailand. You could even see roadside shrines almost every other street in Bangkok. Then, the tour guide took me to see two shows that night - a cabaret show featuring transvestites, and a "sexy" show - which in Pat Pong is called by touts the "ping pong" show - featuring impressively trained ladies of the night. Of course, beyond these two tourist "attractions", Bangkok beckons for the excellent cuisine that we call Thai. This alone makes a visit to this City of Angels worthwhile. |
