Manila is technically just the City of Manila - that's the former capital of the Philippines. Many "Manilans" use the name loosely though; to answer queries about where we live, where we work, and where we play. Technically, I live in Pasig City, work in Makati City, and play all over Metro Manila. But all of that is just plain "Manila" to me. A place I call home; vibrant, cosmopolitan, alive! The travel bug bites me often enough, and I am fairly fortunate to be able to indulge it, but there is no place like home!
The photo shows one half of the Edsa Plaza Hotel (white building on the right) in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. Behind it (yellow building) is the Shangrila Plaza Mall - an upscale mall very pleasant to spend quiet weekends in. Some of Makati's buildings can be seen in the distance.
