We arrived in Morrocco after driving down from Spanish North Africa. Our first major stop was Fes where for a couple of days Graham; our driver spent a couple of days welding and hammering to get the truck in shape for the long haul. Although most of the passengers headed out to have a look around I spent most of my time helping the courier with shopping and organising the stores for the Sahara crossing. We also visited Chechaouen, Todra Gorge, Marrakesh, Essouira, Agadir and of course drove through the High Atlas and Middle Atlas Apart from in the major cities most of the time we bush camped and it was pretty damn cold in the morning, at one place we woke to find our tents covered in ice....
One of the major obstacles we struck here was that we were travelling during Ramadan, that meant that food was hard to come by and beer even harder.
The biggest event during this part of the trip was when Ben accidently set his face alight while doing an impromptu fire eating display in the main square at Marrakesh. The fuel he had bought locally was not what he thought it was and he was very lucky to come out of it with very little scarring.
The next biggest thing was the first departure from the truck. Cam, our oldest passenger would choose not to do the Sahara crossing and disembarked in Marrakesh with promises to join us again later in the journey...........see my travelogues for more
