<font size=+1>After the mudfest in Mauritania, it was nice to arrive to the hustle and bustle of Bamako for Christmas. First port of call was the Main Post Office to pick up all the long awaited news from home followed by an ice cold beer or twelve. Ben, Festa and I out did ouselves at a Chinese Restaurant/Bar behind the Post Office and followed it up with an all out splurge for Christmas Day at the hotel where we were camped in the carpark, how unusual....NOT.........we did have addition company as we were joined by the Cast and Crew of the Encounter Truck which was travelling the same route and who we had crossed paths with while stuck in the mud. Present swapping ensued, we had all drawn names in France but poor old Ben missed out, somehow he managed not to get a present. Oh well never mind eh.
We hung around Bamako for a while, taking advantage of the pool and the steak and chips at the hotel restaurant before heading on to Djenne, Mopti (for the run to Timbuktu and Bandiagara (for the Dogon Country)...........for more and photos see my travelogues.
