<font size=+1>After a very rough 1998 I was fortunate to be reimbursed an old debt that allowed me to head off on a solo journey from Beijing to Bangkok.
Leaving sunny Queensland on the last day of November I arrived in Beijing to grey snow and naked trees.
Beijing was to be the starting point for a four month overlanding adventure to Bangkok in Thailand. I had the whole route planned (a pre-requisite for the Chinese Visa) but I would end up meandering with no set plan at all.
Beijing, Xi'an, Lanzhou, Xiahe, Lanzhou, Chengdu, Guilin, Yangshuo, Nanning and on to Vietnam
