Dillingen, on the river Sūre in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, 11 kilometers north-west of Echternach. This environment, the German-Luxembourg natural park, of which the famous Müllerthal is a part, is also called the Luxembourg's Little-Switserland. It is a specific hiking-area in large forests, with passable and well marked hiking-tracks, along rocks, rivers en viewpoints. It is also appropriate to make tours on bicycles or mountain-bikes. Dillingen is in the centre of this environment en therefore a very good starting-point for day-trips to (archaeological) sights and musea, for example in Echternach, Vianden, Luxembourg city, the river Moselle, or Trier. The community of Beaufort (of which Dillingen is a part) includes an open-air swimming-pool, ruļns of a castle from the middle ages, a mančge, about 60 kilometer marked hiking-tracks, several restaurants and shops. In the river Sūre it is possible to canoe (hiring out in Dillingen) and to fish (permission available in Beaufort). |
