I visited Protaras, Cyprus in April 2002.I travelled alone (shades of Shirley Valentine !!!) and loved it.
I found the Greek Cypriots to be very warm and genuinely
friendly.It was also very safe for a female alone.A jeep safari up into the Troodos mountains showed a completely different side of the country from the beach and sun image.Spectacular scenery, beautiful unspoilt villages, ancient monasteries and as a complete contrast, The Cyprus International Car Rally !! The resort of Protaras is very family orientated with low key but enjoyable nightlife, a complete contrast to Ayia Napa only 10-15 mins away by bus.Beware the two pelicans at the harbour in Ayia Napa, they bite !!
