München is the actual name of the city and it comes from “zu den Mönchen”, which means “to the monks”, because monks lived here first. They built St. Peter's church (which is still standing) in 1050, 108 years before the city was founded. Munich is the capital of Bavaria, the largest, southernmost and most picturesque of Germany’s 16 provinces. It’s known as “The city at the foot of the Alps”, “The Village of a Million Inhabitants” and “The Secret Capital” (of Germany).<a href="http://www.wunderground.co m/global/stations/10866.html"> <img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/banner/bigwx_cond/language/www/global/stations/10866.gif" |
