Three Days in Barcelona

by Audrey118 - last update: May 24, 2002

We went to Barcelona on train from Madrid.
The high speed train ride (about 160 km per hour)
took about 7 hours; the ride was extremely comfortable,
and you get to see the country a bit.
There is a small visual screen that tells you exactly where you are and which town you are passing through.

Lunch is optional and served at your seat.

Barcelona is much smaller than Madrid, a bit chaotic to me. We stayed at the Ramblas, and it was so different
from Gran Via in Madrid. Madrid Gran Via is busy but not bustling like Ramblas.

At the Ramblas activity never stop from morning till wee wee late. Here you see jugglers, people posing in difficult positions that you may want to photo with for a small token, and even chicken for sale. The morning newspaper is given away free. People walked very quickly in a hurry for their morning work and just grab the papers off.

At the Rablas, you see people doing all sorts of things...even late into the night. We were out at about 2 am, and there was still lots of people on the street,

There is even 24 hours internet kiosk...called Easy Everything...and for 4 euro you can serve for 24 hours!!!! However, you have to be careful at the Ramblas...there are lots of pickpocketers etc,
so just look after your belonging.
We heard so much stories before we arrived, and was even cautioned by the hotel, and taxi drivers!!!

But like anywhere in the world you go to, you just have to be careful.

There are lots of Philipinas working in Barcelona - it is almost like in Asia when you get there. They mainly work in tourist spots and in gift shops.
