Ha Long Bay | the beautiful sunset colours |
Vinh Ha Long, translated means Bay of the Descending Dragon. One of the UNESCO World Heritage, located north of Vietnam, in the Gulf of Tonkin. On the map, I noted that it is not too far from China's Hainan Island as well.
The bay has an amazing collection of under 2,000 islands and islets, freestanding limestone mountains in the vast bay.
Having been to Australia Melbourne to the Great Ocean Road to see the 12 Apostles, I try to relate my trip to frens that it is just like the many many more apostles rocks island but with lots of trees sprouting out but set on a calm bay!!!
Most of the islands are uninhabited, with only a handful having a tiny beach strip- well I only saw 2! during my overnight trip on board the Emeraude Cruise. |
| | Emeraude Cruise This is a copy of French Emeraude cruise that once belonged to some French family who built many many other similar beautiful steamer like the Rubies, Oynx etc. |
Cave You should not miss a short hike to the Hang Dau Go cave. You have to hike a rocky man made steps - me panthing away up to the cave entrance but on arrival it was simplly awesome...altho - there was lots of tourist!! There are several chambers with many spectacular stalagmites and stalactites. Many Vietnamese and foreigners have been visiting this cave since early 1920s or maybe before....there are many carving on stone in the cave. |
